Letting Go Of Past Hurts

expanding mindAn essential part of healing, growing, and expanding your mind, is letting go of past hurts. We’ve talked about it before and I know it’s not easy. Each time you dwell upon whatever person and incident hurt you, you put yourself in the victim role, and as you relive it or re-talk it, you release inflammatory secretions into your body which end up making you sick. Weather you wine quietly or out loud, the same damage is being done.

forgiveSo how do you break the cycle? First, you must desire to let go and to forgive. A good beginning is to remember that we are all human beings made of the same stuff- just different amounts. Achieving balance is what it’s all about. What?  You are of the frame of mind to rid your self of old baggage? Let’s dig in;

Nat mur– The homeopathic remedy Nat mur is called for when there is suppressed grief, memories that haunt, or disappointments. If these feelings should manifest as some of the symptoms listed below, then Nat mur may a good choice;

  • Gloomy and depressed
  • Wants to be alone
  • Irritable, private, resentful, sensitive (including to noises)
  • General dryness
  • Headaches
  • Catch colds easily/ cold sores
  • Discharges like egg white
  • Eczema
  • Dry mouth, extreme thirst
  • The lower lip sometimes has a crack in the middle
  • Constipation

Honeysuckle– This Bach flower remedy is indicated for those who live in the past, (which might have been a great time happiness), or for one who has memories of a lost friend, or perhaps ambitions which have not come true. These folks do not ever expect to have the happiness they did once. Key words that hallmark honeysuckle are homesickness, nostalgia, and bereavement.

Dowse– to clear negative thoughts and past hurts.

Paper Doctor Lifted Spirits– Try touching this pattern for 2 minutes. Repeat again in 10 minutes if necessary. It is not a cure-all but will give you a temporary lift on your mood.

Therapy– talking things out is always fine-  you might gain new insights and possible techniques to cope or to let go, but this is my least favorite of all the modalities.

If none of the above work for you, here is my last suggestion…something I personally have done, and it worked well for me…

Write a letter to whoever hurt you, listing all the things they did that impacted you that you cannot let go of. Then continue by forgiving them, and finally ‘letting it go’. Make sure you hand write it, as when your hand and pen connect to the paper, you are processing it to your brain. Then read the letter out loud,burningpaper with conviction, as if the person was standing in front of you. Lastly, light the paper on fire and burn it up. As you watch it burn, tell yourself that you are letting go of all the hurt, and by the time the paper is completely burned up, you will have finally let it all go.
